There’s hardly anything that can benefit any child more than a love of reading. I can remember my mother and father reading to me when I was really little. I would be all tucked into bed and either Mom or Dad would come in and read to me before I fell asleep. The nice thing about listening to them reading was that I could imagine the story as it unfolded in my own way, I could see the images, and just become totally involved in the action. I think this bedtime reading was what made it easier for me to learn how to read, too
